Different watches take off in popularity for different reasons. Some are simple, understated, and can easily go with any outfit in your wardrobe. Others come from legacy brands that exudes luxury and class. And others still appeal to people because they address a particular need, be it practical or stylistic.
Luminox is a brand that has gained recognition for the latter; specifically, its watches were made to address the needs of US Navy SEALs.
The Navy SEAL watch was developed in 1994 with Chief Nick North working with the brand in order to ensure that all the necessary specs made the final product.
The result is a watch meant to withstand almost anything. It has a carbon-reinforced polycarbonate case and is water resistant up to 200 meters. Additionally, the Navy SEAL Colormark comes with a diver bezel as well as a dial set with luminous tritium tubes that allow you to tell time in the dark. The latter feature has become one of the signatures of the Luminox brand.

Navy SEAL Colormark - Navy

With a watch this military-official, I like going with Navy as your face color, as it adds a bit of a collegiate feel to the look and I am simply not built enough like a Navy SEAL to wear a blackout military watch.
Navy Seal Colormark — Navy, $319.98 (originally $395), available at Huckberry.
Navy SEAL Colormark - Orange

While the navy blue is a bit safer, this is probably my favorite look these SEAL watches have to offer. The orange pop gives off the vibe of a hunting vest; it’s a watch that is meant to be seen, for sure. The orange type on the bezel is a really nice touch.

Recon Point Man

If you're not all that into the boldfaced lettering of the Navy SEAL watches though, this Recon Point Man is another great option if you still want to get a functional Luminox piece. The series of dials gives off an impression a bit akin to a target, slowly centering in on a bullseye. It also comes with a canvas strap, making the watch a bit more casual that its previously mentioned counterparts. But despite the differences in look, the Recon Point Blank still comes with the brand's iconic lume.
Luminox Recon Point Man, $189.98 (originally $450), available at Huckberry.
