Every new fashion season, the world throws out thousands of tons of clothing. The US alone sends 10.5 million tons of garb to landfills every year, and Americans buy five times as much clothing as they did in 1980.
The new online campaign #ShareWear attempts to make a small dent in that waste. Anyone with an Instagram account can borrow fashion for free for a week, either from an Internet stranger's closet or from the official #ShareWear collection. You then pass the garment along to someone else to create an endless loop of fashion recycling.

If you have a piece of clothing you're tired of, post a photo of it on Instagram and tag it with #ShareWear.
