- Earlier this month, it was reported that women attending the 2018 Golden Globe Awards will allegedly wear black to make a statement against sexual misconduct.
- On Wednesday, Dwayne Johnson and celebrity stylist Ilaria Urbinati confirmed that men will also wear black to the awards show to protest sexual misconduct.
- It's unclear how many men will participate in this statement.
- However, some people think this isn't enough — and they're sharing their opinions on Twitter.
On Wednesday, Dwayne Johnson and celebrity stylist Ilaria Urbinanti confirmed that men will join women in wearing black to the January 2018 Golden Globe Awards in response to the widespread sexual misconduct allegations in the entertainment industry.
Urbinati, who dresses A-listers like Johnson, Armie Hammer, and Tom Hiddleston, announced her decision to dress her clients in black on Instagram.
"Because everyone keeps asking me ... YES, the men WILL be standing in solidarity with women on this wearing-all-black movement to protest against gender inequality at this year’s Golden Globes," she wrote in the caption of her post. "At least ALL MY GUYS will be. Safe to say this may not be the right time to choose to be the odd man out here ... just sayin."
Johnson commented a simple "yes," on Urbinanti's post, seemingly confirming that he will wear black to the event.
But some people think this kind of protest isn't enough and are criticizing it on Twitter.
Twitter user @MaltyHops pointed out that men typically wear black tuxedos to the Golden Globes.
so great they’ll be wearing black this year, a color that men would typically not wear to the golden globes pic.twitter.com/87og5Zpvhe

And tons of other people are acknowledging this, including Twitter users Zach Federici and Moking.
Claps and high fives all around for the brave men deciding to protest sexual harassment in Hollywood by wearing black tuxedos. Like something they would wear already to the Golden Globes. Really A+ work you're all doing. Maybe try making Hollywood not a cesspool of harassment?

? Don’t the guys usually wear black and whose watching The Golden Globes anyway. ?

The singer Halsey called out the silent protest, too.
They basically all wear black anyw.... nvm https://t.co/kCj5ye2jdF

Devlina Ganguly, an Assistant Editor at ABP Group, also chimed in.
Male actors to wear black at #GoldenGlobes to protest sexual harassment ? But, but, but...don't they wear black tuxes on the red carpet anyway? Why not wear red, pink or peach?

Twitter user @PeachyMoe said that actors could make a bigger statement by not attending the awards.
... so protesting the golden globes by not attending the golden globes never crossed anybody’s mind orrrr https://t.co/Dkvzeqcvvl

Roderick Bean agreed, tweeting that another way to protest the event is to not tune in.
I’ll do my part by keeping my TV screen black during the Golden Globes . https://t.co/wUKDwxefB9

And some people, like Rayanne Smith, made fun of the protest.
So tuxes? Men are going to wear tuxes to the Golden Globes? *Miranda Priestly voice* "groundbreaking"https://t.co/v16UfWpven

Kristen Hillaire, a Ph.D. candidate at UCLA, mockingly called the choice to wear black "bold."
A rare, bold move to wear black in protest at the Golden Globes.

The climate surrounding sexual harassment allegations in Hollywood has changed since September, when the New York Times and the New Yorker published back-to-back reports accusing Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein of multiple accounts of sexual misconduct.
Since then, at least 36 other prominent men in media, entertainment, and politics have been publicly accused of sexual assault and harassment including Matt Lauer, Al Franken, and Louis C.K.
At this time, it's unclear how many Golden Globes attendees will wear black to the event.
