The INSIDER Summary:

  • The bathing suits cater to "all types of women," according to Sports Illustrated.

The concept that every body is a swimsuit-ready body isn't new or revolutionary in the body-positivity community. However, retailers have been slow to catch on and sell cute and inclusive swimwear.

But on July 22, Sports Illustrated made strides toward inclusion when it released a debut line of body-positive swimwear at SWIMMIAMI, The New York Post reported.

The swim and active apparel collection, which is a collaboration with RAJ Swim, will "cater to 'all types of women,'"according to Sports Illustrated.

"[People in the crowd] lost their minds when the curvy girls came out," Sports Illustrated Swimsuit editor MJ Day told The Post.

"I think they were shocked because you don't typically see that at fashion week … especially at swim fashion week,"Day said. "Some people [in the audience] were moved to tears because they saw themselves represented on the runway, which they never thought they would."
