The INSIDER Summary:
- The Kardashians reportedly stopped working with their longtime stylist, Monica Rose.
- The split first made headlines in April.
- Some reports say Khloe Kardashian is considering suing Rose, though it's unclear why.
- Now, it's been reported that Kris Jenner allegedly told her daughters to break ties with Rose.
- No one on the internet knows what exactly caused the split.
Avid fans of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" will know the name Monica Rose. And even if you don't watch the show, chances are you've seen her style.
That's because Monica Rose has been dressing the Kardashians for as long as a decade, according to The Cut.
But after 10 years, Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, Kylie, and Kendall have all reportedly cut ties with the stylist who made chokers cool again.
While nobody on the internet can figure out what caused the split, a new report in May alleges that Kris Jenner told her daughters to separate themselves from Rose.
Here's everything we know about the split so far:
On April 27, People reported that Khloe was the last sister to stop working with Rose, citing the information from "sources close to the Kardashian family."
The magazine pointed out that the last time Khloe tagged Rose in an Instagram photo — as she usually did whenever she styled her — was five weeks ago. Here's the post:
People also noted that Khloe hired stylist Dani Michelle — who has also been credited with styling Kourtney — for a photo shoot in April.
And a few months ago, in December 2016, the magazine reported that Kylie began working with stylist Jill Jacobs, who used to be Rose's assistant.
Kim — who was the first to work with Rose in 2007 — and Kendall have also reportedly been working with other stylists for a while. Kendall recently hired stylist Marni Senofonte, who is known for dressing Beyoncé, according to W Magazine.
Even Gigi Hadid, who is a friend of the family, has reportedly stopped working with Rose.
However, the split appears to be more than just a professional one. As The Cut observed, the sisters stopped following Rose on Instagram altogether as of April 26, which doesn't really bode well for the stylist.
On May 18, Us Weekly reported that Kris Jenner was behind the decision. A source who claims to be close to the family is quoted saying, "Kris told her girls in April to cease contact with Monica."
But there's still no clear reason for why they stopped working together online. A Page Six story from April 28 cites a source who said the sudden break was due to "mysterious circumstances."
On May 1, the story escalated as Page Six reported that Khloe wants to sue Rose, adding that the stylist "recently hired a lawyer to keep some of the wilder scuttlebutt out of the headlines."
Here's another excerpt from the report:
Now we’ve learned Kardashian’s furious and wants to sue Rose over the sudden schism — but Rose says she can prove she’s done nothing but a great job for Kardashian.
Meanwhile, we’re told the whole affair, which began several weeks ago, is causing heartache for everyone concerned.
The publication also quoted a source close to the family, who said: "The Kardashians/Jenners are upset because [Rose] was like family to them."
While we don't know how true that is, Rose did make appearances on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," and she has styled all of the sisters and Kris Jenner.
The US Weekly report from May 18 also cited an "insider" source, who said that Khloe doesn't plan to make the details of the split with Rose public knowledge. The insider also said that the story won't be addressed on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians."
As for Rose, the stylist has remained silent on social media, and in recently published interviews with StyleCaster and Teen Vogue she has mentioned, and even praised, Kendall Jenner.
Speaking to Teen Vogue, she called Kendall "awesome" and "the coolest chick."
In the past, Khloe has spoken highly of Rose.
"At my fattest, Monica would always come with racks of clothes and make me feel special," she told Harper's Bazaar in June 2016. "She never told me, 'Oh, they don't have that in your size.' Other people actually said, 'I just can't work with you' — because I was too big. That always hurt my feelings, of course."
Less than a year later, it seems their relationship is nowhere near as strong.
Although it remains unclear what exactly went down between the Kardashians and Rose, we'll keep updating this story as we learn more.
